Carpenter from HELL !!!!

Characteries of a LOUSY Carpenter !!!!

1. Poor workmanship
2. Taking 1 week to install jus 1 wardrobe cabinet
3. Always MIA
4. Ceating more & more defects


The above points jolly well describe our carpenter. It driving us crazy. Our house reno is supposed to be complete few weeks back. It got delayed becos of wardrobe/cabinet & hiccup in the drop down ceiling. The contractor finally agreed they will complete the renov by Tues, 16 May. Sad to say, we are still in the same process of checking n complaining defects. Especially for our wardrobe/kitchen cabinet.

Yesterday , most of our kitchen cabinet doors were removed. We are told that they will redo new one , in order to retify the alighment problem for the doors. We also complained abt the quality of the bedroom doors & they will replaced all for us with a new set on coming sat.

Today they installed back the doors BUT this time, 2 of the cabinet handle were installed slanted. There's still alighment problem for cabinet doors too.
The 2 wardrobe doors were installed back today. Again, wardrobe's door alightment problem surfaced. QC FAILED BADLY !!! Our 'dear' carpenter is creating more & more problems for us.

Beside this, we also having problem doing layout for our living room. It seem like we will be left with no space for walking after adding the console, sofa , coffe table. Thinking to change our coffeetable to a smaller size.

I think the only area that we never complained is the window grill.

Tomorrow , Fri will be the FINAL dateline for contractor. Pray for us bah!!!

A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words ...

For a period, we didnt update this blog. We had been busy shopping for furniture & electrical goods these few days. We purchased Guest Room Queen size bedframe + mattress, MBR Samsung 23" LCD TV & sofa bed, Living Room sofa, TV console, coffee table,shoes cabinet, Kitchen dining table with 6 foldable chairs, fridge, Study Room shelves & computer table for both of us. Big Damage to our wallets. The best bargin is the 23" Samsung LCD TV that we grabbed at the Courts Sales. Havery norman is having their warehouse sales at Singapore Expo & I think Courts is trying to counter offer them. Good for all the consumers. They have more choices to choose from. This LCD TV is without extended warranty. We bought our dream fisher & paykel fridge from the biggest havery norman store & they offer the best rate for extended warranty.

We had bad experiences with our sofa & TV console vendor . Their furniture price is quoted without GST!! They never inform us until the moment when we start to make our payment. So dishonest!! We felt that Ikea sale personnel shld be train to be more proactive. They jus answer your enquires through verbal or point here n there. Never go further extra mile for customer, really a 'DIY' style of customer service.

Latest update for our home reno progress

We got the contractor to add on another layer of wall ceiling to even out the odd shape for MBR. Now at least it is more presentable. Making of MBR wardrobe is still on-going at the moment. Progress abit slow. Below is the lighting for MBR drop down Ceiling. Center piece is the dimmer light.

Our White Theme Kitchen almost 95% done. Nice Frosted glass & squareish cabinet handle. If you look at the picture closely, you will notice that one of the section is doorless. Heard that the kitchen cabinet contractor actually broke it . So now got to wait for new replacement. Some of the cabinet door edge is abit crooked & dirty too. We got the contractor to take note of it & they will do the amendment. Water mixture for the sink & tap for washing machine was both installed in the evening.











Our Guest room wardrobe is quite screw up. Door handle isnt fixed yet & some portion of the door surface is bloated. Poor workmanship. Actually they are of the same material with our kitchen cabinet. Done by same cabinet contractor too. Complained to the main contractor & he will infm cabinet contractor to get it retified. We bought a white Queen size bed fame in v.hive. Good bargin & definately will work well with the wardrobe.



Water heater for both Kitchen & MBR toilet is fixed. First picture from the Kitchen toilet & 2nd picture from the MBR toilet. We spent the minimum reno amount on these 2 area. Basically nothing much can be done due to small constraint area.





The only area without furniture or fixture is our store room . The wall surface is really wrinkled ,really uneven & rough. Well, it doesnt need attention as long as we keep the door closed.

Material for Feature Wall

The picture below is taken by KP when he visited the workshop yesterday. We will be using this timber material & colour for our living hall Feature Wall.

House visiting again ...

Today we went house visiting again. I was hoping to see our floor skirting 100% done . Sad to say, abt 75% completed . The colour of the skirting seem to be in darker shade as compared to our floor tile. Wondering if the sub-contractor is using the same tile model?? Help us judge the tile ...



Our MBR drop-down ceiling still in the same bad shape , no remedy yet.


Glad to see our kitchen cabinet 90% complete. Our sink, hod & hood is finally installed. I believe the kitchen cabinet will look even nice & sleek with the cabinet door handle installed.






Our hob & hood. We purchased it from Mayer, Hob - Indesit MK64R & Hood - Delizia Krea 90.



Our dusty Hob. Hope there's no scratches on it. Our flat is an old block with no citygas supply. We don't want to use cylinder gas, waste space & dangerous too. It's kind of fate that determine us to buy this Vitroceramic Hob.

Our stainless steel single sink. It will look very great with our nice-looking n expensive mixer(tap). A piece of art !!

Tomolo morning, KP will be meeting our contractor to choose the timber colour for our living hall feature wall. They will be installing wardrobe for our bedroom too. Need to remind KP to inform Best Denki to delay our Living hall TV delivery.
